You’re looking at a new Ducati CAM SHAFT LOCKING TOOL for the ST4 AND ST4S from model year 2001. This tool can also be used on the 2002 748 fitted with ST4 heads.
On Ducati Desmoquattro 4V engines there is always pressure on the cams and if the cam belts are removed without holding the cam wheels the correct valve timing will be lost. This tool has been designed to precisely fit between the 2 cam shafts and hold them in place allowing for easy replacement of the cam belts.
The cam belts on Ducati’s need to be replaced every 15,000 miles and unfortunately this simple routine maintenance task is often overlooked with catastrophic results. Don’t let your engine end up like the one in the listing picture!
This tool will fit ST4 & ST4S all model years from 2001 and the 2002 748 with ST4 heads.

Keeping to the recommended 15,000 life of the cam belts is a important part of Ducati maintenance. This tool makes the job of changing the cam belts easy and is an essential tool for all Ducati owners.
Installation tips:
First, lock the rear cylinder cams with this tool, then remove belt from the front cylinder followed by rear. Replace belt on rear cylinder followed by the front. Remove the cam lock tool and tension belts.
Belt tension tools are expensive and not really necessary for this simple job. Use a 5mm hex key to set the tension as shown.
